IPL 2023: ‘Sandeep Sharma Will be Regretting the No Ball Forever’ – L Balaji
Former India bowler Laxmipathy Balaji said that Sandeep Sharma isn’t going to forget the no-ball he bowled against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) anytime soon. On Sunday, May 7, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowler failed to restrict the opponents as they sealed the deal in the last ball thriller in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur as well.
With the Sunrisers needing five runs off the last ball, Sandeep Sharma bowled to Abdul Samad, who hit the ball straight down the ground at long off and Sunrisers recorded their highest successful run-chase in the history of the IPL as well.

“If we recollect the last over against CSK, Sandeep was able to pull back the game in the last three balls. Here he had another opportunity, but unfortunately that no ball cost him. He held his nerve and was able to keep things simple until the last ball was bowled. For a moment he thought the match was over, but the sound of the siren came in a disheartening way. He will be regretting the no ball forever. This one delivery will definitely be playing in his mind,” L Balaji told Star Sports after the match.
IPL 2023: Rajasthan Royals failed to win the game on the final ball
However, L Balaji also applauded Glenn Phillips, who scored 25 runs off seven balls with one four and three sixes while batting at No.6 for SRH as well. Phillips smashed Kuldip Yadav for 6, 6, 4 before getting out to a stunning catch from Shimron Hetmyer as well.
“I thought Glenn Phillips is a kind of player, who can take on the bowlers. Probably, SRH decided Phillips to go in the last three overs when you are chasing a big total. He made absolutely great connection with the ball and I am sure and that had helped the Sunrisers to have hope in their batting lineup,” he concluded.
The Rajasthan Royals are currently placed fourth in the points table with 10 points and a net run rate of +0.388 after having won in five out of 11 matches as well.
