IPL 2023: Shikhar Dhawan on Punjab Kings’ Win against Chennai Super Kings
In the post-match ceremony, Shikhar Dhawan had an interesting take on his team’s mindset, the pitch, and Punjab Kings’ bowling attack.
“It feels very special, beating Chennai in Chennai is a big thing, very happy with the team. It shows great character to bounce back from that loss and come up with a positive mindset, all credit goes to the team and the support staff. I was very happy with the way the bowlers bowled. I thought the wicket was too dry but it had the bounce to support. They have been very very consistent, and I wanted them to play more overs. Liam has got his touch back and you would want him to bat as much as possible, everyone is performing well”, said Shikhar Dhawan in the post-match ceremony.
Chennai Super Kings put 200 runs on the board for the Punjab Kings to chase, and Devon Conway missed his IPL century and fell short by eight runs. Moreover, Punjab Kings got good support from their batting order. Prabhsimran Singh and Liam Livingston played an interesting knock and made the target look easy, as Skipper Shikhar Dhawan departed after scoring 28 runs. Liam Livingston scored 40 runs on 24 deliveries and smashed 4 sixes, and led the team towards a victory. Sikandar Raza scored the winning runs for Punjab Kings as they required three on the last ball.
