IPL 2023: “The team management needs to answer why they did that with Arshdeep”, Aakash Chopra

Punjab Kings’ team management has recently made multiple questionable decisions that have grabbed the attention of IPL fans and cricket experts.

The Punjab Kings team franchise had performed brilliantly in the initial few matches in the tournament. The team gradually lost its momentum as the tournament progressed. According to cricket experts, the Punjab Kings team management has not utilized the skills of their players appropriately, which might have been the reason for their downfall in the TATA IPL 2023.

Many eyebrows have risen on Punjab Kings’ decision to make their star Indian bowler Arshdeep Singh bowl only two overs in their recent match against Delhi Capitals on 17th May 2023.

Aakash Chopra recently posted a video on his YouTube channel and took a huge dig at the Punjab Kings team franchise. He believes they have made a ridiculous decision of making Arshdeep Singh bowl from the 5th over.

In the video, Aakash said Punjab Kings are making a huge mistake of making Arshdeep Singh bowl in the latter overs of the powerplay, instead of beginning the innings for the team.

He also explained the team’s blunder and said that the ball gradually loses its momentum of swing in the fifth or sixth over in which Arshdeep is being handed over the ball. Also, the star Indian player is only bowling two overs in a spell which doesn’t make sense.

Aakash Chopra’s statement came after the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals as Delhi Capitals made a mammoth of runs against Punjab Kings in the first innings of the game.

“My first question is what happened with Arshdeep Singh? In my opinion, India’s premier bowler has been marginalized this season with PBKS. I don’t think only Shikhar Dhawan is responsible. The team management needs to answer why they did that with Arshdeep. This guy has come after playing the T20 World Cup – India’s No. 1 T20 bowler in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. He started this tournament like a rocket, and bowled beautifully with both the new and the old ball. He even reached No. 1 in the Purple Cap race when he picked up four wickets against the Mumbai Indians.” Said Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel.
