IPL 2023: Tom Moody Amazed By Suryakumar Yadav’s ‘Impossible’ Six
IPL 2023: Tom Moody, the former Australian cricketer, expressed his surprise at Suryakumar Yadav’s six against Mohammed Shami in the 19th over and said he had never seen a batter make such an attempt in his entire life. Throughout his 103-run innings, Suryakumar used a variety of strokes. But his six against Mohammed Shami in the last over shocked many. Even Sachin Tendulkar, one of cricket’s all-time great batters, tried to replicate the shot. While seated close to the dugout because it was so fantastic.

After Shami intentionally pitched the delivery wide outside off, Suryakumar purposefully cut the ball over short third for a maximum. At first, it looked as though Suryakumar was going for a grounded shot. But he flicked his wrist at the end to send it over the boundary line for a six.

“I Don’t Think I’ve Ever Seen a Six Hit Over Third Man”, Tom Moody
Moody told ESPNCricinfo“That particular ball, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a six hit over third man with a vertical bat. I’ve seen them hit with a horizontal bat, a cut shot over the third man. I’ve never seen a six-hit with a vertical bat off the middle of the bat. I’ve even seen a thick-edge fly. Never seen it before in my life! I’ve seen nearly 10 million balls bowled in all forms of the game, and I’ve never seen that before. It was mint. It was in his head, and no one else’s head, that he could do that.”
The shot stunned everyone, not just Moody. Ian Bishop, who is currently commentating on the IPL, called the shot ludicrous. To me, this will always be remembered as “The Shot.” He wrote, “That is ridiculous coming from SKY.”
Rohit saidRohit Sharma also praised Suryakumar Yadav for his stellar knock. “The guy has got the confidence. We wanted to keep right-left combination, but SKY came in and said no, he wanted to go in.”
Suryakumar Yadav’s Performance
Said Rohit Sharma“That is the kind of confidence he has, which rubs off on others. He wants to start fresh every game and does not look back at the previous game. Sometimes you can sit back and feel proud, but that is not the case with him.”
The star Mumbai batter always seems to be one step ahead of the bowlers, and his ability to find the gaps with ease makes him a nearly impossible batter to bowl to in the shortest format of the game, according to former Australia cricketer Tom Moody, who was speaking about his first IPL ton. With that victory, Mumbai is now in a strong position to advance to the playoffs independently of other outcomes. It is currently ranked third on the points chart, behind the table-toppers Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
