IPL 2023: Zaheer Khan Believes Umran Malik Has Not Been Handled Well By SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) pace spearhead Umran Malik has played only 7 matches in the ongoing IPL 2023. He has taken only 5 wickets in the tournament which came at an economy rate of 10.35 and has looked not in good form in the tournament as well.

However, Umran Malik was a force to reckon with in IPL 2022 when he claimed 22 wickets in only 16 matches. Many experts added that Umran can break the record for the fastest delivery and after the conclusion of IPL 2022, he made his debut for Team India against England in T20I Series as well.

Umran Malik also played the last match for SRH against Delhi Capitals (DC) on 29th April where he hasn’t been able to bowl with good lines & lengths like last season when he thrashed the batters with his sheer pace as well. And, he was ignored for the clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) which is the last clash of SRH in the tournament as well. Notably, they are already out of the playoffs race.

Meanwhile, former India speedster Zaheer Khan was having an interaction with Jio Cinema where he was questioned SRH for not giving a long run to the young pace bowler Umran Malik and said that a player needs support & guidance from the franchise as well.

“Umran Malik has not been handled well I felt by the franchise, (in) the way he should have been handled by the franchise, (in) the way his services should have been utilised by SRH. That’s something which was evident,” said Zaheer Khan.

“When you are talking about a young seamer, you are also looking at creating that environment and support. And, that guidance is required. Unfortunately that was not seen by SRH. That’s why, he’s had a season like this,” Zaheer Khan concluded.
