MS Dhoni played his last game for India against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 ODI World Cup. He announced his international retirement in August 2020. But since then, he has been playing in the Indian Premier League for the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings. But his biggest question this season is whether it is the last season for him or not. This question is on the minds of every fan, even former cricketers.

Even in one of the CSK games, presenter Danny Morrison asked MSD about his retirement plans during the toss, but the skipper didn’t give a clear answer. However, former CSK star and close friend of Dhoni, Suresh Raina, opened up about his discussion with the skipper on his retirement plan. His statement will certainly clear up some doubts among some of the fans.

Just like MS Dhoni, Raina also made his IPL debut for the Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural season in 2008. Since then, he has played with the team until the 2021 season. Raina is also the second player after MSD to captain CSK in the tournament. Recently, he was seen in a home game for Chennai against the Mumbai Indians.

After the game, he interacted with the CSK players and the skipper. Notably, in his recent interaction on Jio Cinema, the southpaw revealed what the CSK skipper told him about his retirement. He said, “Main trophy jeetke ek saal aur khelunga (After winning the trophy, I will play for one more year).”

This season, there have been some moments when Dhoni indicated that it might be his last IPL season. In one game at Eden Gardens, he thanked the crowd, which came in large numbers to support him, and said that it is his last phase of his career.

Earlier, after the conclusion of the IPL 2022, he said that he wanted to play his last season in front of the home crowd at Chepauk Stadium. However, after a disappointing season in 2022, CSK are looking in great shape at the moment. They are currently second on the points table with 13 points. Chennai will lock horns with the Delhi Capitals in their next game on Wednesday.
