MI vs GT: Rashid Khan Breaks a Number of IPL Records With His All-Round Performance vs MI
MI vs GT: It was a spectacular night for the five-time champion Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday. They locked horns with the Gujarat Titans in the 57th game of the season and ended up thrashing them in both departments of the game. Only Rashid Khan was the only survivor for the defending champion. He had an incredible game with both bat and ball but couldn’t take his team to victory.

It was because of an epic inning from Suryakumar Yadav, who took the game out of GT’s reach. He hit his maiden IPL century and became the first MI batter to touch the three-figure mark at Wankhede in the last 12 years. Suryakumar played some unbelievable shots to every corner, and none of the GT bowlers could trouble him. He needed 13 off the last three balls of the first inning to complete his century, and he smashed two sixes to reach his century. MI ended 218/5 in the first inning.

MI vs GT: Rashid Khan smashed a 21-ball fifty for GT to achieve a rare record
Chasing a huge target, Gujarat had a poor start. They lost their top three in-form batters for just 26 runs in 3.5 overs. Vijay Shankar (29 off 14) and David Miller (41 off 26) played some shots, but they also got out. GT were struggling at 103/8 in 13.2 overs, and it looked like they would end up conceding a huge loss. But then, Rashid, who came to bat at No. 8, smashed a 21-ball half-century and helped GT reach a total of 191/8.
He remained unbeaten on 79 off 32, with three fours and 10 sixes, and registered his highest T20 score. With his unbeaten knock, he set some new records. Notably, Rashid’s 79-run inning is the highest score by a No. 8 in the IPL’s history. He also smacked 10 sixes, which are now the most by a GT batter in an inning. These are also the joint-second-most sixes in a chase in the IPL.
Rashid and Alzarri Joseph added an unbeaten 88 runs for the ninth wicket, which is the highest IPL partnership for the ninth wicket and second-highest in overall T20s. Notably, the leg-spinner also picked up four wickets in the first inning. He became only the fourth player to take four wickets and score a half-century in an IPL game.
