Suryakumar Yadav’s breathtaking ton powers Mumbai Indians to a massive total
The MI batter started steadily and then smashed a maximum against Alzarri Joseph in the 15th over of MI innings after which his innings got the kind of momentum which was needed. He smashed a four on the first delivery of 17th over bowled by Rashid Khan to reach the 50-run mark in just 32 deliveries.
However, he had saved his best for the last four overs as he took on GT pacer Mohit Sharma in the 17th over of MI innings. He smashed 3 fours and a six in the over to get 20 runs for the Mumbai Indians providing the acceleration to their innings.
Suryakumar Yadav took on Mohammed Shami in the 19th over and hit a maximum and a couple of fours. He then smoked a couple of maximums in the final over bowled by Alzarri Joseph and got his maiden IPL century in just 49 deliveries.
The MI batter has now jumped to the third position in the Orange cap race and has 479 runs in 12 innings at an average of 43.55. Suryakumar Yadav also became the first Mumbai Indians batter to score a hundred at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in the IPL since Sachin Tendulkar’s 66-ball 100 against the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011.
