Moeen Ali Credits Victory Against DC to MS Dhoni
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has this year fixed his role as the finisher of the team. Irrespective of the situation, MS Dhoni has clarified that he will only walk out to bat in the death overs. The decision has worked wonders because of MS’s ability to hit big boundaries in those overs. Oftentimes it is noticed that the veteran wicket-keeper batter just hits the couple of boundaries or sixes that turns out to be the difference between the two teams.
Speaking about the Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings match, all-rounder Moeen Ali acknowledged that the runs added by MS Dhoni during the final overs were a turning point for any game. The captain had the highest strike-rate (222.22) in the line-up scoring quickfire 20 runs from 9 overs. In response, the chasing team fell 27 runs short reaching only 140 runs in 20 overs. Furthermore, Moeen Ali spoke about the team’s performances and accepted that it was one of the best IPL seasons for the team.

MS Dhoni at the end with those sixes just gave us that bit of momentum: Moeen Ali
“Brilliant performance, probably one of our better wins of the season because the wicket was a bit tricky. I thought we got a competitive score and then to defend that the way we did was brilliant against a very good side actually, a dangerous team, and two big points. We had a decent start, a good start and then we lost a couple of wickets which dragged it back. But then Shivam Dube’s three sixes was the real turning point and then MS at the end with those sixes just gave us that bit of momentum and gave us the score we were looking for (160-170),” Moeen Ali said.
While others in the team including the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni, and others have been performing well, Moeen Ali is having not the best year. Earlier, Moeen Ali batted up the order giving him better opportunities to score runs. However, with MS Dhoni’s decision to move Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube up, Ali’s main contribution this year has been with the ball. In 11 games he has scored 114 runs and picked up 9 wickets.
