RCB vs MI: Mumbai Indians Dismiss Virat Kohli in The First Over After Successful DRS Call

Star RCB batter Virat Kohli has looked in sublime form in the ongoing IPL 2023. However, he failed to deliver with the bat in the RCB vs MI game on May 9 as Jason Behrendorff dismissed him in the first over as Mumbai Indians took a successful DRS call. Virat Kohli has scored 419 runs in 10 games in IPL 2023 with 6 fifties and must have aimed a big score on a batting-friendly wicket at the Wankhede Stadium. But, he couldn’t actually make an impact with the bat and was dismissed after scoring a solitary run.

Virat Kohli was beaten by Jason Behrendorff in the first two deliveries of the first over of Royal Challengers Bangalore innings. The MI pacer bowled a length delivery on the off stump which angled across Kohli and took a faint outside edge.

MI wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan grabbed a simple catch and started celebrating. While all the other Mumbai Indians’ fielders too made a loud appeal, the on-field umpire remain unmoved. Ishan Kishan then signalled his skipper to go for the DRS and Rohit trusted his player and went for the DRS.

All the Mumbai Indians players were quite confident that there was a noise. The replay clearly showed a spike in the UltraEdge as Virat Kohli took the long walk back to the pavilion just in the first over of RCB innings for just 1 run.

Interestingly, Virat Kohli has been dismissed twice before by a left-arm pacer in IPL 2023. Akash Singh had dismissed him in the game against Chennai Super Kings while he was dismissed by Trent Boult in the game against Rajasthan Royals which has again revealed Kohli’s struggle against left-arm pace.

After the dismissal of Virat Kohli, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis played a brilliant knock of 65 runs off just 41 deliveries. Glenn Maxwell then played a swashbuckling knock of 68 runs off just 33 deliveries as the two batters took RCB’s total to 199-6 in the RCB vs MI clash.
