“Rohit Sharma has delivered once again for Mumbai Indians. He was faced with a crisis at the start of the competition when key pacer Jasprit Bumrah was out. Jofra Archer struggled with his form and fitness,” Irfan Pathan said while speaking to Star Sports.

“Rohit Sharma Marshalled his troops well”, Irfan Pathan

“This captain marshalled his troops well. He first guided MI to the eliminator and then took his team to the qualifiers with his astute captaincy,” the former pacer praised Rohit Sharma ahead of IPL 2023 Qualifier 2.

It’s worth noting that Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the IPL 2023 before the start of the tournament. English pacer Jofra Archer too wasn’t available for selection in the first few league games.

Archer did play 5 games for the Mumbai-based franchise but could only take a couple of wickets and leaked runs with an economy rate of 9.50. The pacer then left the MI camp midway through the tournament owing to his recurring injury.

In the absence of their key players, Rohit Sharma got the job done mostly by the uncapped Indian players. While Akash Madhwal was exceptional with the ball in the must-win games for them, Tilak Verma and Nehal Wadhera showed their class with the bat.

Rohit Sharma’s brilliant leadership skills got the best out of Piyush Chawla as well who is amongst the top 5 wicket-takers in IPL 2023. The MI skipper will now be expecting the same performance from his side in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 on May 26.
