Transferring his magnificent form of international cricket into IPL, Shubman Gill came up with another great knock this year. During the Lucknow SuperGiants versus Gujarat Titans clash, both Gujarat openers Wriddhiman Saha as well as Shubman Gill were at their absolute best. Batting with the strike rate of 188.37 Saha was out for 81. However, Shubman Gill stayed not out till the end taking his team to 227 but stayed 6 runs short of his IPL century.

After the match, Shubman Gill was given the player of the match for his contribution. The young opener wasn’t sad about missing out on his century but was rather motivated to do well. Reflecting on his innings, Shubman Gill explained that with 4-5 matches still left in the tournament, he was sure to hit a 3-figure score soon. Following that, he discussed Wriddhiman Saha’s knock and praised him for his outstanding knock.

There are games left and hopefully, I’ll get my hundred in one of them: Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill Confident on Scoring a Century This Year in IPL

“It was in my mind but I missed out on the bouncer I hit for a single. No worries though, there are 5-6 games left and hopefully, I’ll get my hundred in one of them. It was hot but the start we got off to, thanks to Wriddhi bhai, meant it was important for us to continue going with the momentum. It was a good wicket. Got a bit difficult as it was a dry wicket. But with the hard ball, it was coming on nicely. Just to be able to share his (Saha) experience, I stand next to him at slip, it is phenomenal with the way he keeps going,” Shubman Gill said.

This isn’t the first time that Shubman Gill has gotten out in the 90s. Last year as well, he was dismissed on 96 runs. After his impressive season last year, this year Shubman Gill is certainly more confident and will possibly have a 500+ runs season. Currently, in 11 matches he has 469 runs with 4 half-centuries. Speaking about the game, Gujarat Titans registered a 56 runs victory over Lucknow SuperGiants to stay at the top of the table with 16 points.
