Justin Langer: “Obviously Still Upset”: Michael Hussey

Langer received a six-month contract extension from Cricket Australia despite having an outstanding record. Reports that Langer’s coaching style was unpopular with the team’s players surfaced in his final days as Australia’s coach, which led to his resignation. Hussey expressed his thoughts on Langer’s words, saying the former coach is still unhappy with how things were handled. But thought the timing of his most recent comments was “not ideal.”

“The timing of it is probably not ideal. (Langer’s) obviously still upset about how it all went down, and maybe it could’ve been handled better from a Cricket Australia perspective. My sense is the players have been pretty quiet on it all. They’ve sorted and moved on. They just want to move on. There’s no point in making it a distraction for them. They can’t afford to make that a distraction for them. They’re going to get asked about it, but they’re just going to have to focus on their preparation for the Test.”

Hussey told foxsports.com.au

Hussey also said that while the Australian team is preparing for the upcoming Test series against the West Indies. Which will begin on November 30. It would be pointless to create any distractions.

Justin Langer: Rift Between Justin Langer And Pat Cummins

On November 30, Australia’s two-match Test series against the West Indies is set to start. And Hussey thinks Langer’s remark may have hampered the team’s preparation. In addition, the 47-year-old said Cricket Australia could have handled the circumstance much better. In a recent clarification, Langer said he was on good terms with every member of the team. Including captain Pat Cummins.

Speaking recently on the BackChat podcast, Langer dispelled rumors of a potential rift and said his relationship with the current cricket players is fine. Australia’s Test cricket strategy needed to evolve, according to Cummins. Langer submitted his resignation and left the Australian squad immediately after not receiving the requested extension.

But the former Australian international was so enraged with the players that he didn’t hesitate to label them “cowards.”
