India managed to end their 20-20 World Cup campaign on a high. The Virat Kohli-led side put on an astounding show against Namibia and gave billions of fans back home something to cheer about. The Men in Blue knew beforehand that this result won’t make much of a difference as their hopes of qualifying for semis were quashed when New Zealand defeated Afghanistan to progress to the next round. Nonetheless, it was an emotional game for the Indian fans as it was the last game for Virat Kohli as India skipper and also the final game for the coaching setup.

As soon as the Indian players won the match, they made sure to thank the fans for their unconditional love and support. Kohli started by taking to Instagram. The 33-year-old appreciated fans for the fantastic support throughout the 20-20 World Cup campaign.

“Together as one, we set out to achieve our goal. Unfortunately, we fell short, and no one is more disappointed than us as a side. The support from all of you has been fantastic, and we are grateful for it all. We will aim to come back stronger and put our best foot forward. Jai Hind,” Kohli posted on Instagram.

India opening batter KL Rahul paid a tribute to Kohli, coaches, and fans for their constant support. “Not the ideal World Cup result for us, but we learn and grow. Grateful to all our fans for their love and support. Thank you to our coaches for helping us grow as cricketers. A big shout-out to @virat.kohli for being a leader who led by example and for everything you have done for us,” Rahul posted.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant also thanked fans for cheering for the team. Pandya also promised to come back stronger the next year. “This wasn’t how we wanted our World Cup campaign to go. We fell short, but we will work twice as hard to repay the faith and support shown to us by our fans. Thank you to everyone who cheered us on at the stadiums and everyone back home,” Hardik wrote.
