Earlier this year, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was forced to suspend the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for an indefinite time as there were reports of a breach in the bio bubble and several players and support staff tested positive for the novel coronavirus. PCB decided to host the T20 Championship from June 1 to June 20 at the National Stadium in Karachi. Take a look our review about parimatch casino app.
However, after a discussion with the franchises and other authorities, PCB arrived at the conclusion that hosting the remaining match of PSL 2021 in Pakistan isn’t ideal due to the Covid-19 situation in the country. Thus, PCB approached the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) for hosting the tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It is now learned that though PCB has received permission from the Abu Dhabi government, they will be making a final decision in a meeting hosted with all the six franchises on May 19, Wednesday. The conditions laid out by the Abu Dhabi government can be a major concern for PCB.
Abu Dhabi authorities have asked PCB that every stakeholder involved in the league from players to officials to broadcast and production staff should have been vaccinated against Covid-19. It will not be an easy task for PCB considering that the league involves members from all across the globe and vaccination campaigns are at a different stage of roll-out.
Also, PSL 2021 is unlikely to commence from June 1 as the management needs to tackle the travel restrictions imposed by UAE on the flights coming from different countries. Before starting the tournament, the players will undergo a mandatory quarantine period in UAE and Pakistan. Take a look latest cricket betting tips here in our site.
That routine was supposed to start today, with pre-departure hotel check-ins in Lahore and Karachi on May 20. However, PCB has asked all the franchises to keep their travel plans on hold as they are yet to arrive on a decision regarding the league.
