PAK VS AFG: Babar Azam Rested, Shadab Khan, to Lead the Side
PAK VS AFG: The Pakistan Cricket Board is to play a 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Ever since the Taliban took Afghanistan, UAE has hosted home games for them. Therefore, the 3-match Pak vs Afg series will be played in Sharjah. In order to manage the workload of the players and to keep them fit for the New Zealand tour, PCB has rested a few of them including Babar Azam.

In the absence of Babar Azam, all-rounder Shadab Khan will lead the side in the Pak vs Afg series. The 15-member squad has a combination of young uncapped players who can debut in the Pak vs Afg series as well as some experienced players having been recalled. Those not included in the squad are Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf. Meanwhile, Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub, Tayyab Tahir, and Zaman Khan have been included.

Shadab Khan to lead, Azam Khan makes a comeback
Announcing the squad for the Pak vs Afg series, Najaf Sethi said, “I want to congratulate Shadab Khan on his appointment as the Pakistan team captain for the series against Afghanistan. Shadab Khan has been the Pakistan vice-captain in white-ball cricket for the past couple of years and it is logical that he takes over the side in the absence of Babar Azam for the short three-match T20I tour of Sharjah.”
“For the short Sharjah tour and to ensure continuity, we have also appointed Mohammad Yousuf as the interim head and batting coach. Yousuf has been with the national side since last year as a batting coach and has also been working in the National High-Performance Centre,” he added. One of the selected names that have caught my attention is that of Azam Khan. The batter has had a great PSL so far. In 9 games, he has scored 280 runs with a strike rate of 162.79. Therefore, it’ll be intriguing to see how well he does for Pakistan in the Pak vs Afg series.
