Lahore qualified for their second successive final after thrashing Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi in Qualifier 2 as they set up a rematch of last year’s final against Multan Sultans. Peshawar, on the other hand, have been knocked out of the tournament. Multan earlier booked their ticket to the final after defeating Lahore comprehensively by a margin of 84 runs in Qualifier 1.

PSL 2023 Final: 3 Key Match-ups To Watch-Out in MUL vs LAH Final Match

1) Mohammad Rizwan vs Shaheen Shah Afridi

Multan skipper Mohammad Rizwan will always be the key player for his team, there have been a few other batters with highlight performances in recent games but Rizwan. The top-order batter has been terrific so far in the tournament, scoring 516 runs in 11 matches, and with that, he currently is the second-leading run-scorer of the tournament.

On the other hand, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Lahore’s captain, will spearhead the bowling attack of his team in the PSL final. The tall lanky left-arm bowler has bagged up 14 wickets in his last nine matches. With Rizwan opening the batting and Shaheen opening the bowling, both players will go up against each for the final time in the PSL 2023 and this contest will be one to watch out for.

2) Kieron Pollard vs Rashid Khan

Pollard was the player of the match in the last game between these two teams and he is expected to dominate Qalandars once again. The big-hitting all-rounder smashed 57 runs at a blistering strike rate of 167.64 including one four and 6 maximums. Proving his worth with the ball, he bagged a sole wicket as well to take his team to their second successive final.

Rashid on the other hand has been brilliant with the ball. Like one expects him to be, he’s in the top wicket-takers list of PSL 2023 with 16 wickets to his team, Rashid’s performance in the middle overs and a potential battle against Mohammad Rizwan can well decide the fate of his team in the final. One of the best spinners in the world when it comes to the 20-over format, Rashid will play an important role during the middle overs. He’s likely to come face-to-face with Pollard.

3) Fakhar Zaman vs Abbas Afridi

Lahore Qalandars’ Fakhar Zaman had a great run with the bat in the group stages of the tournament which made him the highest run-getter for his team with 390 runs to his name. These many runs came in 12 games. Although he had a terrible outing in the play-off stages so far with two knocks of six runs each. Fakhar is crucial to Lahore’s chances in the final and he will have the responsibility to get his team to a good start.

Eyeing his wicket will be Multan’s Abbas Afridi, who’s been nothing short of sensational. Afridi is the current holder of the green cap (awarded to the highest wicket-taker of PSL 2023). In 10 matches so far, the 21-year-old pace sensation has picked up 23 wickets. The right-arm pacer will have to dismiss Fakhar early because if the latter gets in he will punish the Multan bowlers.
