Lahore Qalandars leg spinner Rashid Khan might not be available to take part in the next game of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2023) as he suffered a concussion during a league game against the Karachi Kings on Sunday night. Rashid was concussed after being hit on the helmet. He might miss out on Lahore’s next game which is against Multan Sultans in the qualifier on Wednesday and is doubtful for the Pakistan Super League playoffs.

The incident happened in the 14th over of the second innings when the Qalandars were chasing a daunting total of 197. In an attempt to play a pull shot in the 14th over, he was struck in the helmet by a vicious James Fuller bouncer. As soon as he was struck on the helmet, he received medical attention, but he still decided to continue his innings. After being on the receiving end, Rashid was able to strike the first ball handsomely over square leg to get a well-deserved boundary. Despite that, he couldn’t bat for much longer and walked off the field due to a concussion. The Qalandars were 79 for 7 when Rashid had to retire hurt at the end of the 15th over.

Against the odds, Lahore went on to lose the match by a huge margin of 86 runs. It is safe to say that even if Rashid would’ve stayed, Lahore still would’ve lost that game considering the equation and the form of Karachi bowlers on the night.

It was a forgettable night for Rashid, first, he conceded 30 runs in his four overs without taking a single wicket. And then played 13 balls for his 6 runs before being ruled out of the game in an unfortunate manner. Adding to that his team lost the game to Karachi Kings in a humiliating way.

Chasing a total close to 200, Lahore got off to a horrid start as they lost inform batters- Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique cheaply. Karachi bowlers hen took wickets at regular intervals to restrict the opposition to 110 as Karachi won the match by 86 runs.

Qalandars would be hoping that their inform overseas recruit- Rashid Khan would be fine leading up to the playoffs. The ace leg spinner has been one of the big reasons why Lahore is bossing the PSL 2023 till now. The spin wizard is the third-highest wicket-taker of the ongoing season with 15 wickets. He’s the highest wicket-taker for the defending champions and would love to end the tournament with a few more wickets to his tally.

Lahore Qalandars Squad:
