Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz has joined the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, starting on August 29. Imran Tahir, who led the Warriors to their first title last season, will captain the team again.

Gurbaz, who played for the Warriors in 2022, is returning after two years. In the 2022 season, he scored 157 runs in six innings, with two half-centuries, averaging 26.16 and a strike rate of 140.17. Recently, he played for KKR in the Indian Premier League 2024, scoring 62 runs in three matches, including a knock of 39 in the final.

Gurbaz is currently in top form at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, leading the run-scorer charts with 156 runs from two innings, averaging 78 and a strike rate of 154.45. Alongside Gurbaz, the Warriors have retained Pakistan batters Saim Ayub and Azam Khan, and South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius as their overseas players. West Indies stars Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Romario Shepherd, and Keemo Paul are also staying with the franchise.
