Rajat Patidar, an experienced batsman for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has disclosed that watching for team’s captain Virat Kohli’s practice sessions has become a regular part of his daily routine lately while playing for the Bengaluru based IPL franchise.

Throughout the latter part of the season, Patidar emerged as one of the key batters for RCB, stepping up when the team needed to restore their pride and played a focal role in his team’s 5 consecutive wins.

Following a challenging start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Patidar found his rhythm in the latter half of the tournament, showcasing his skills with five impressive half-centuries after initially struggling to find form.

During a recent interaction with the Hindustan Times, Rajat Patidar talked about his batting inspiration. He revealed that both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are his batting idols and regularly watches Virat Kohli’s training session with the RCB team.

“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have always been my two biggest batting idols. I make it a point to watch every net session of Virat Bhaiya and notice his footwork and stuff,” Rajat Patidar said.

Patidar has played in 13 matches for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In those outings, Patidar has scored 320 runs at an average of 29.09 and an impressive strike rate of 179.78.

Meanwhile, former RCB captain Virat Kohli holds the Orange Cap for the most runs scored in the IPL 2024, having scored 661 runs from 14 matches at an average of 66.10.

Despite losing 6 matches back-to-back, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) then went on to win their next 5 matches and still finds itself in the race for the playoffs despite earlier being written off. They face playoff race Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their next match that will decide which team among the two, if not both of them, qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs.
