Rajasthan Royals fielded English batter Tom Kohler-Cadmore in their latest Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 outing against the Punjab Kings at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Assam’s Guwahati.

Ton Kohler-Cadmore was introduced into the maiden IPL 2024 match as a result of Rajasthan Royals’ key overseas Jos Buttler had to return home to prepare for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, is also the captain of the England team. This was Kohler-Cadmore’s first match in the IPL 2024, but more than himself, it was his unique collar band that made the headline.

In his first match of the IPL 2024, Tom Kohler-Cadmore opened the batting for the Rajasthan Royals wearing a special collar band, which created curiosity among the fans as to what really is the device for.

The collar band that Kohler-Cadmore was seen wearing around his neck is a special Q Collar device that has been developed by the Q30 Innovations. It is a protective device that prevents brain injuries after head injuries, which is a constant threat in the game of cricket.

The incident involving Australia cricketer Phillip Hughes still lives among the heads of many cricket fanatics and there have been several Innovations to avoid the same and the Q Collar band is just another of those. Tom Kohler-Cadmore has been regularly seen wearing this device whenever he plays the game of cricket, very much since The Hundred tournament in 2023.

Meanwhile, Tom Kohler-Cadmore didn’t quite enjoy the outing in his first IPL 2024 match. Rajasthan Royals included Kohler-Cadmore in the playing XI in place of Jos Buttler, but the 29-years-old Kent born cricketer could only score 18 runs from 23 balls at the strike rate of just 78.

Chasing a target of 145 runs after being asked to bowl first, Punjab Kings held on to the nerves and sealed the victory in the penultimate over of the match as Punjab won the match by 5 wickets. While Rajasthan Royals have already qualified for the playoffs, Punjab Kings were only playing for pride after becoming the 2nd team to be knocked-out of the tournament after Mumbai Indians.
