Bangladesh’s T20 captain Najmul Hossain Shanto displayed confidence in his team’s capabilities as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Shanto emphasized that if the team performs to their full potential, they have the ability to overcome any opposition.

The national team faces a formidable challenge in the World Cup, having been placed in a strong group that includes competitive sides like Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Nepal. Despite the tough draw, Shanto is focused on formulating and implementing small plans to navigate through the initial phase of the tournament successfully.

As part of their preparations, Bangladesh is scheduled to depart from Dhaka for Huston, stopping over in Dubai, at the early hours of 1.40 AM on Thursday. The team’s composition and preparatory work have instilled a sense of optimism in Shanto, particularly with regard to their potent fast bowling attack.

In the selection conundrum, decisions were made to include Liton Das and exclude allrounder Mohammad Saifuddin. Shanto pointed out that these choices were driven by the need for performance and experience within the squad. Additionally, there is hope within the camp that the key fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will recover from his injury in time for the kick-off of the World Cup.

Shanto also spoke highly of leg spinner Rishad Hossain, who is seen as a complete package within the team. The captain’s intention is to allow him the liberty to express his skills fully and bring his true potential to the fore during the competition.

The opening fixture for Bangladesh at the T20 World Cup will see them go head-to-head against Sri Lanka on June 8 in Dallas. Prior to this, the team is slated to play a three-match T20 series against co-hosts, the USA, which will serve as additional preparation for the squad.

The announced squad features prominent players such as Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, amongst others, with traveling reserves including Afif Hossain and Hasan Mahmud. This blend of experience and emerging talent is what Bangladesh is banking on to make a significant impact at the T20 World Cup. Shanto and his team are looking forward to proving their mettle on the international stage and strive for exceptional performances throughout the tournament.
