Well, for the Men in Blue, the early exit from the Asia Cup 2022 has certainly raised some questions about their preparations. With not much time left for the squad to be announced, the concern is who will be those 15 players that should be in the team. Another issue that the Indian team is facing right now is the injury to some of their star players. Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are injured and out of action. That means the selection for the BCCI will not be easy. Even the performance in the Asia Cup was not up to the standard.

It is still unsure how the selectors will go about the selection for the T20 World Cup. But as per some reports, the management will look to back the experienced players. Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra also has his say on the Indian squad for the World Cup. In the latest episode of “ICC Review,” Nehra spoke about his choices for the team for the upcoming event. He picked KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma to open the batting. However, he also said that Rahul needs to score some runs in the next six games before the World Cup. At No. 3, Nehra picked Virat Kohli and also added that Suryakumar Yadav could bat at 4 or 5 in the team. For more options, he picked Rishabh Pant and SKY as two batters who can play at Nos. 4 or 5, as an alternate. Then he went with Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja at No. 4 and 6, respectively.

For the spin-attack, the ex-pacer has gone with Chahal and Jadeja and picked Ravi Bishnoi as the back-up. However, Nehra named four pacers that deserve more chances in the team for the World Cup. His pace-bowling attack consists of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh. Notably, he didn’t pick Mohammed Shami for the team. He said,

“One name, however, comes to my mind and that is Mohammed Shami. Being a Test specialist, he hasn’t attracted that much focus from the selectors. And I am not saying this because I saw him up and close in Gujarat Titans.”
