T20 World Cup: “Rohit and Rahul Dravid Will Be Concerned”- Sourav Ganguly on India’s ICC Title Drought
T20 World Cup: We are just a few weeks away from the start of the T20 World Cup 2022. The WT20 will start next month on October 16 in Australia. The first round of the tournament will see eight teams fighting for the four spots remaining in the “Super 12” stage. However, exactly one month from now, the mega clash between India and Pakistan will take place on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The tickets have been sold out and it will be a packed stadium. Looking for India’s best betting sites? Check out live cricket odds and bet on live cricket games with our amazing betting bonuses!
Around 80000 spectators are expected during the match. But the worrying sign for India is that building up to the ICC event, they have lost a few matches on the trot. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India lost back-to-back matches against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Australia. However, the biggest challenge is the death bowling, as India couldn’t defend big totals in all three games. And with only five more T20 internationals remaining ahead of India’s first match in WT20, the think tank needs to address this issue asap.

T20 World Cup: “Rohit and Rahul Dravid will be concerned” – Sourav Ganguly
India hasn’t won any ICC trophy since the 2013 Champions Trophy, which came under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Thus, the pressure of expectations is huge on the team and players. BCCI President and former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly also believe that Rohit and Dravid might also feel the pressure of not winning an ICC title. However, he reckons that the team will make a progress under Rohit and Dravid. In a discussion with PTI, Sourav said,
“I am sure Rohit and Rahul Dravid will be concerned about the team and everything, and they will improve. I am not worried about one or two losses, but yes, we have not done well in big tournaments. We will talk about that… The team will leave (T20 WC) two to three weeks, will get time to acclimatize and play practice matches.”
The BCCI President further highlighted that the return of Virat Kohli in form is a real positive for the team. Kohli, ended the Asia Cup 2022 as the second highest scorer. He made two half-centuries and one century in the tournament. He also completed his almost 3-year century drought with a remarkable century against Afghanistan.
