T20 World Cup: Shane Watson Names an Indian Star “Who Can Win T20 WC on His Own”
T20 World Cup: India will kick off their 2022 T20 World Cup campaign on Sunday (October 23). They will take on Pakistan in a much-awaited clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The fans from both nations are eagerly waiting for this game, with all the tickets having been sold out completely. Both teams have a chance to start their tournament with a win. Pakistan registered a 10-wicket thrashing the last time both teams played in the 2021 World Cup.
So this time, there is a chance for India to settle the score. However, India has got a good set of batting, which is one of the best in the competition. But the real issue is with their bowling department. But they have got some match-winners on their side. And with the former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, coming back into form, India is looking like a totally different side.

T20 World Cup: “Hardik can win the T20 World Cup on his own” – Shane Watson
Not just Virat, India has got Suryakumar Yadav, who is in his dream form. While Rohit and Rahul have been scoring runs at the top of the order. But one man that stands out in this team is star all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The 29-year-old has shown exceptional form since his return from injury. He made his comeback in the IPL and led Gujarat Titans to win their maiden title in the very first season. Then, for India, he has performed admirably with both bat and ball.
Hardik has also captained the side in T20Is against Ireland and the West Indies. Overall, he has now become the “X-factor” that a team wants in a big tournament. That is what former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson also believes. In an interview with the Times of India, Watson said that with an in-form Hardik, India looks like a totally different side. He said,
“Hardik Pandya is a talented cricketer. When he’s bowling, the way he’s paced up at 140s is amazing. His batting just continues to go through the roof. He’s not just a finisher, he’s a power hitter too. He’s got all the skills. We’ve seen him in the last IPL. He can win the T20 World Cup on his own. He is truly a match-winner.”
Hardik has done a really good job in 2022. He has played 18 games and scored 436 runs at an incredible strike rate of 151.28. On the other hand, he has also picked up 12 wickets with the ball in hand. Notably, he was the “Man of the Match” against Pakistan when India won in the group stage of the Asia Cup 2022.
