T20 World Cup: With not much time left in the upcoming T20 World Cup all the teams every team are in preparation mode. However, a few teams are struggling with injuries to some of their players. One such team is South Africa, who suffered a big setback when their star batter Rassie van der Dussen was injured. Later, they faced another big blow when star all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius was also ruled out. Pretorius sustained a left fractured thumb.

The all-rounder was an integral part of the team with both bat and ball. He also did well with the options he got in the recent T20I series. He injured his left thumb during the series, which led him to miss the T20 World Cup in Australia. However, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced the replacement for the all-rounder.

The CSA announced left-arm quick Marco Jansen as his replacement on the team. Jansen will travel to Australia with the team. He was part of the research earlier with the team. Now he will join the team, and Lizaad Williams has been added to the travelling reserve. South Africa, who were on their tour to India, lost both white-ball series recently. They lost the T20I series 2-1, then lost the ODI series to India’s backup 2-1.

An ODI series loss has also dented their chances of qualification for the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. They are now likely to play the qualifiers for the ODI World Cup. The Proteas will play two warm-up matches ahead of the tournament. They will face New Zealand and Bangladesh on October 17 and 19, respectively. Then, they will play to open their campaign on October 24 (Monday) against the second qualifying team from Group B at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart.
