T20I World Cup 2022: Team India is on a path to search for the right combination for the upcoming T20I World Cup in Australia. Ashish Nehra has picked four pace bowlers who should be with the team in the upcoming T20I World Cup. Talking to the Cricbuzz, former pacers named Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Siraj and Prasidh Krishna for the World Cup squad. The T20I series between India and West Indies is underway, and India has given rest to their premium bowlers, Bumrah and Shami.

Instead of that, the team is playing with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan, and Harshal Patel as their main fast bowlers.

Talking further, Nehra said that he will pick only Siraj from the current team in the World Cup. He said,

“The World Cup is very far away. If the squad for the World Cup is to be announced tomorrow. There is only one pace bowler from this team who will make it, and that is Siraj. My choice for the World Cup would be Siraj, Bumrah, Shami and Prasidh Krishna. We have seen what he can do, and after these four, comes Deepak Chahar.”

Former pacer also lauded Rohit Sharma, who is backing Bhuvneshwar Kumar, even though he is not showing good form. He said that the skipper is backing the veteran pacer because he is the most experienced bowler on the team. And it will be totally up to Rohit whether he wants any change or not in the playing XI.

Either Bhuvneshwar or Deepak Chahar should be given the chance – Parthiv Patel

The former wicket-keeper batsman also shared his view on the current bowling attack of the Indian team. Parthiv Patel pointed out that Bhuvneshwar and Deepak Chahar are similar in the skill-set they bring to the game. So the team should go with only one of them. Instead of choosing those two, India can opt to have Siraj or Avesh Khan in the team. Parthiv concluded,

“Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar are similar kinds of bowlers. So, you can try to play either one of Siraj or Avesh Khan for variety. So, this can be tried out since we are already exploring the best combination for the World Cup,”

India will take on West Indies in the second T20I match at Eden Gardens on February 18.
