Jofra Archer has suffered an unfortunate injury once again and former England player Kevin Pietersen believes this could be the end of his career. The 29-year-old fast bowler first suffered an elbow injury in 2021. It took him almost 17 months to regain complete match fitness. Jofra Archer played for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the SA20 league, followed by a couple of ODIs for England and then the IPL. His issue with the elbow resurfaced during the Indian Premier League and as a result, he was given adequate rest.

Unfortunately, the injury concerns aggravated and now Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the IPL as well as the upcoming Ashes series. There are rumors that Archer had been offered a one-year deal by the Mumbai Indians. However, in order to go ahead with this the fast bowler will require the England board’s approval. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen expressed his opinion that Archer’s time with the national team might be coming to an end.

Kevin Pietersen believes this will be the end of the career for Jofra Archer

Kevin Pietersen Makes Bold Statement About Jofra Archer’s Career

In his blog for Betway, Kevin Pietersen wrote, “I’m gutted for Jofra Archer. Absolutely gutted. I think this will probably end his journey with English cricket. I know that there are reports around a franchise contract, and that would be the smartest thing for him to do now. Take six months to recover, select a few tournaments to play, and bowl at the speed of light for a few months of the year. He would earn good money and still have a career in the game.”

Jofra Archer made his debut for England in 2019 and was part of England’s squad for the ODI World Cup. In his career spanning around 5 years, the fast bowler has played 13 tests, 21 ODI games as well as 15 T20Is. While the intent of his injury is still unknown, the team will be hopeful for his speedy recovery keeping in mind the ODI World Cup in India this year. With Jofra Archer unavailable for Ashes, it’ll be interesting to see how Ben Stokes will now manage the workload of the bowlers.
