Sydney Sixers’ pace bowler Tom Curran made a massive claim regarding his team, stating that a hattrick of Big Bash League (BBL) titles will likely put them at the level of five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Mumbai Indians.

The Sixers have the opportunity to defend their title for the second time in a row. This is something no other franchise has ever achieved in the BBL. If they manage to win this season, it will be their fourth title overall and the third in a row. Curran feels that such an achievement puts them on par with the best T20 teams in the world.

Any team that wins three or two titles in a row is obviously a great successful franchise. But winning three in a row will arguably make us one of the great franchise teams going around, statistically. Doesn’t matter who we are getting compared to but yes definitely we will be right up there,” Curran stated during a media interaction organised by Sony Sports Network. On how the BBL is unique to other T20 leagues

Further, Curran mentioned that the differently-sized boundaries in Australia ensure that the players need to be on their toes at all times. They need to alter their tactics on the move in order to do well.

One thing unique about the BBL is the dimensions of the different grounds and the size of them. Like in MCG, the square boundaries are massive and straight is short while at the Adelaide Oval we have short square boundaries. As a bowler and even as a batter, you have to constantly work on your tactics for the different grounds,” Curran said.

“Hopefully, we won’t be going like this for a long time” – Tom Curran on bio-bubbles

The pandemic times have forced the cricketing boards to take stringent measures and have strict bio-bubbles in place for the players. As expected, these bubbles end up having a negative impact on mental health, especially in the long run. Tom Curran felt that the bubbles are unsustainable and are quite “unhealthy” in nature.

Sydney Sixers, Tom Curran

These are strange times and it definitely has a negative impact on the mind of the cricketers, including myself. It is not a healthy way of living. You can’t go out with friends after a game and there is no release especially after tough games we have in the leagues or international cricket. Bio-bubbles are not sustainable and hopefully, we won’t be going on like this for a long time. The bubble in Australia is thankfully not that hard and we have a bit more freedom,” the Sussex cricketer added. Here’s quick betting tips today.

Curran didn’t take part in the previous BBL edition for the same reason. He was part of the Sixers squad but had spent the past few months holed up in hotels. To move away from it all, he opted out of the BBL-10 but arrived for this year’s edition with a fresh mind.
