IND VS WI: Legspinner Ravi Bishnoi earned a maiden India call-up on Wednesday as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the limited-overs series against West Indies.

Rohit Sharma returned to the Indian squad and will lead his first-ever series as India’s full-time white-ball captain. As expected, fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were rested.

Rohit’s deputy KL Rahul will be available only from the second One-Day International (ODI).

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was on the receiving end of a massive backlash following a poor show in South Africa, also found a place in India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad. While Harshal Patel returned to the squad, the selectors also included rookie pacer, Avesh Khan. Here are our newest cricket tips and guide.

In what turned out to be a surprise, allrounder Deepak Hooda was included in the IND vs WI ODI squad, while spinner Kuldeep Yadav was handed a recall. Kuldeep, who has been on the sidelines for a long time, was only handed an opportunity in Sri Lanka last year when India was forced to pick a second-string side.

Ravichandran Ashwin was not picked in either squad as the offspinner is undergoing treatment but his Tamil Nadu teammate Washington Sundar returned to the Indian camp. He missed out on the South Africa tour due to covid.

Ravindra Jadeja, who was expected to return, was not picked as the BCCI confirmed that he is still undergoing his final stage of recovery post his knee injury.

India are set to host a white-ball series against West Indies, starting Feb. 6. The series includes three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) followed by as many Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

The 50-over games will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, while the shortest format matches will be held at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
