IPL 2022: Ahmedabad captain, Hardik Pandya, “I want to win the World Cup for the Country”
IPL 2022: Indian Premier League is entering the auction stage. Players from across the globe will be eager to play in the best cricketing events in the world. That’s the reason a total of 1214 cricketers have registered themselves for the auction. And now, with two more new teams, we will be watching 10 teams competing for the title.
IPL has always produced many star cricketers for their respective countries. And it is not a wrong statement to say that the IPL has been the platform for many young talents. Not only for the young players but also for the more experienced ones. IPL has given them the platform to perform and come back to their national side. And today we are talking about Indian star all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Here are the IPL sponsors list. Check it here.
Want to win the World Cup for the Country – Hardik Pandya
Hardik, who was released by the Mumbai Indians, was picked by the new team, Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad, new team from IPL 2022, has decided to give the role of captaincy to the Indian all-rounder. And this will be the first time Hardik will be playing the role of full-time captain for any IPL team.
The last few months haven’t been good for Hardik and his international career due to injury. He played his last international match at the T20i World Cup in 2021 in the UAE. However, talking to the Economic Times, Hardik revealed his plans for his comeback. He said,
“All my training, planning, preparation is keeping the World Cup in mind. I want to win the World Cup for the country. It will make me really happy and proud. It is like an obsession with me. IPL will give me a very good preparatory platform for the World Cup but all the hard work ultimately is for the Indian team and the World Cup. ”
IPL 2022: I wanted some time off to prepare myself physically and mentally
In the absence of Hardik Pandya, the Indian team has tried a few options for the all-rounder. Venkatesh Iyer played in the T20I against New Zealand. He also played two ODIs against South Africa.
However, his performance in the matches he has played thus far has been below par. India has always struggled to find a genuine all-rounder, and with two ICC World Cups coming up in the next two years, this is something that needs to be addressed.
However, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar have shown some glimpses, but India needs Hardik to be fit and back in form. Speaking of his preparation, Hardik said,
“I have always rushed myself with my preparation keeping the team’s interest in mind. But this time I wanted some time off to prepare myself physically and mentally. I also wanted to take some time off for my family. We have spent a lot of time in bio bubbles, though everyone has tried to make us feel comfortable, staying in a bio bubble is very tough.”
Hardik is training hard for his comeback. Hopefully, we will be watching him playing for the country soon.
