IPL 2022: ‘Greats’ Like Dhoni, Raina, Du Plessis Help You, Ngidi Opens up on Experience With CSK
IPL 2022: Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Lungi Ngidi has shared his experience playing under MS Dhoni. The South Africa pacer has also spoken about the help he received from “greats” such as Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been the platform that has helped many players burst onto the bigger levels in cricket. Not only Indian players but it has also been true for many foreign cricketers, including South Africa’s Ngidi.
CSK bought Ngidi ahead of the IPL 2018 and from there on, the pacer never looked back. Now a vital cog of the Proteas team, Ngidi bagged 11 wickets in his debut season with CSK and helped his side win the tournament.

Ngidi, who has now played over 60 international matches for South Africa, has admitted that the exposure of playing in front of a large crowd during the IPL has helped him develop as an individual.
“So first of all, playing in front of crowds (in IPL), that big was the first thing for me. Coming in as a young cricketer, you have never really experienced something like that so you find a way to adjust to that and you become comfortable within that.
“Obviously, there is always pressure, it’s a high-level tournament and with all the best internationals around the world and the best Indian cricketers, the standard of cricket is very high and it tests you as a player and you tend to find where you actually fit in and where you are lacking,” Ngidi said in a recent interview.

IPL 2022: CSK retain 4 players ahead of Mega Auction
Ngidi claimed three wickets from five games in the last IPL. The South African pacer was released from CSK’s squad ahead of the IPL mega auction.
“If you are lacking in a certain department, you got the right people around you to help you as well. You can bounce game plans off MS Dhoni, great batsmen like Suresh (Raina), Faf du Plessis, you can start to communicate with great batsmen and you learn your game as a bowler,” the Proteas bowler added further.
Ngidi, who has 117 wickets in 85 T20s, is expected to earn a generous amount at the auction ahead of the IPL 2022.
CSK has retained only four players: Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali. The reigning champions have a reported available purse of INR 48 crore for the mega auction.
The IPL 2022 mega auction is going to take place across two days: Feb. 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
CSK, who are the defending champions, defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final in 2021 to claim their fourth title. Try our cricket prediction app and get some free guide from us.
