Former Pakistan Left Arm Pacer Mohammad Amir is all set to get British citizenship which will make him eligible to represent England in International cricket and to play in the IPL as well. Mohammad Amir has been living in the United Kingdom since 2020 with his lawyer wife Narjis Khan, who is British citizen. Amir is now eligible to obtain British citizenship and he would get his passport by 2024.

Amir opens up on playing in the IPL with British passport in a recent interview with ARY News“First, I will not play for England. I have played for Pakistan. Second (talking of IPL), there is one more year to go. What will be the scenario at that time….I always say that I go step by step. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow and I start thinking about playing IPL in 2024,” Mohammad Amir said on ARY news.

“I don’t know where I will be a year later. No one knows about the future. When I get my passport …whatever the best opportunity will be and what I will get…I will avail it,” the former Pakistan pacer further added.

Significantly, players from Pakistan are not allowed to participate in IPL since 2008. But in 2013 Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood had played for Punjab Kings and later for Kolkata Knight Riders after he got British Citizenship.

Mohammad Amir will be eligible to register for the IPL auction once he gets the British passport, If he gets the bid, he will be one of the few Pakistan-based players to play in the league.

Mahommad Amir always catches the eyes when he played against India, He was Pakistan’s one of the most talented fast bowler, He Retired from International Cricket in December 2020, but since his retirement he continues to play in the franchise based cricket across the world and also had good impact with the bowl.

Mohammad Amir played 50 T20 internationals for Pakistan and he picked 59 wickets with an exceptional economy of 7.02. Some of his performances against Men in Blues still haunts Indian fans, In 2016 Asia Cup, His figures are 3-18 as he got the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Suresh Raina, In 2017 Champions trophy Final, He destroyed the Indian top order with the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli, His figures in the final are 6-2-16-3.
