T20 World Cup: The T20 World Cup 2022 has begun with the First-Round games, and the tournament has already featured some amazing encounters with underdogs throwing the giants an “upset.” India defeated Australia in their opening warm-up game against the hosts and defending champions in a nail-biting encounter. Mohammed Shami, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and vice-captain KL Rahul all gave outstanding efforts to help the team win a thrilling practice match on Monday, October 17.

While playing the Australian pacers, particularly Mitchell Starc, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, famed for his heavy hitting, appeared a little rusty and was caught off guard. Pandya’s profile speaks words about what he can do for the team, despite his subpar performance against the Australians. The player has now indicated a desire to challenge himself and become regarded as an “outstanding” fielder.

T20 World Cup: “My Fitness Has Gone Up”: Hardik Pandya

"Was Natural As a Fielder, But I Want To Be Exceptional", Hardik Pandya Ahead T20 World Cup
“Was Natural As a Fielder, But I Want To Be Exceptional”, Hardik Pandya Ahead T20 World Cup

“God has been kind to me. My fitness has gone up. I can spend a lot of time on my fielding with our coach (T Dillip). I was always natural as a fielder, but I want to be exceptional. Now, I can spend some time on my skills and get those difficult catches. My goal this year is to grab a catch that could go down as one of my best.”

Pandya said in a video posted by BCCI

The players’ fitness levels are becoming a concern as the matches come thick and fast since there have been times when they feel lethargic. This eventually results in lower concentration levels and tiredness on the field, hindering opportunities at crucial game times. However, athletes with crazy fitness levels include Pandya and former captain Virat Kohli.

T20 World Cup: Hardik Pandya In Australia

Pandya has scored 78 runs at an average of 39.00 in three T20I innings he has played in Australia thus far, including a game-winning 42* off 22 balls against Australia in the second T20I of the three-match series back in 2020. He grabbed three wickets in the six matches he has played in Australia. Pandya stated that playing that one inning can assist players in becoming acclimated to the Australian conditions when speaking about batting.

When asked about his performance in the exhibition match against Western Australia, Pandya said he was happy with his knock of 27. On Wednesday, October 19, India plays New Zealand in the second and final exhibition game. India is in Group 2 at the ICC competition alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, and two qualifiers.
