The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has come to an end. Australia continued their dominance and went on to win yet another World Cup title to their name. They have won six World Cup titles, and India was left heartbroken. There were a few more teams that disappointed everyone with their performances. Bangladesh was certainly one of those.
Shakib Al Hasan and his men ended up in 8th place and won only two games in the entire tournament. At one stage, they were even struggling to qualify for a place in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. A disturbing video is surfacing on internet where some fans are dragging Shakib Al Hasan by his shirt and trying to attack him. The Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan was seen going to a jewelry store at the time when a mob tried to attack him. Fans ambushed him and pulled him through his collar to throw him on the ground.
Bangladesh had a poor performance in the World Cup 2023 and suffered six consecutive defeats. They were the first team to be eliminated from the competition. This shocked their fans, as Bangladesh finished third in ICC Super League points table before the start of the tournament. The team also struggled due to ego clashes between the senior players, which made Tamim Iqbal withdraw from the tournament.
Shakib Al Hasan earlier denied leading the team in the competition, and when he did lead the side, his individual performance was below par. The captain only scored 104 runs in the tournament at a poor average of 17.33, which was one of the reasons for Bangladesh’s failure. And the video confirmed that the fans were not happy with him both as a player and as a captain.
