During Match No. 12 between Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL), a young fan was left with blood dripping down his face because of his failed attempt to hold on to Ben McDermott’s six. The incident occurred during the Hurricanes’ run-chase.

McDermott was facing Scorchers’ pacer, Andrew Tye, in the seventh over when the former smashed a juicy full-toss for a six over deep mid-wicket. The young fan tried to grab the ball but he failed to judge the pace, resulting in a hit right on his forehead. Scorchers top bbl table after narrow win.

The adrenaline coursing through his veins meant that he didn’t realise he was bleeding until his friends and the people in the crowd pointed it out to him. The fan ended up taking the blow in his stride.

The commentators on air were also oblivious to the injury before understanding what had happened. “Oh no. He’s got a bit of blood. We need some medic. He didn’t even realise,” the commentator on air said.

On the back of his century, the Scorchers ended with a competitive total of 182. Marsh ended up unbeaten on 100 off just 60 balls.

Laurie Evans played second fiddle to the 30-year-old Marsh, contributing 40 runs during a match-winning partnership of 67 runs for the fifth wicket. The Scorchers then carried on the momentum into the bowling half and blew away the Hurricanes for 129, registering a comprehensive 53-run victory.

We have started well this season when compared to last season – I think we’re playing good cricket. Looking for a small break before preparing the upcoming games,” Marsh said while collecting the Player of the Match award. Read more about big bash betting tips and tricks here.

With the win, the Scorchers continued their impressive start to the season. They now have three wins in three matches and are the only undefeated team in the league. They will next face off against Hurricanes in the reverse fixture on December 20.
