Spectators cheering for their favorite players or showing their excitement for some extraordinary shots, catches or wickets from the stands are nothing new. There have been many instances where the crowd has gone mad over some happenings on the match field.

However, it was possibly the first time that the fellow spectators got the loudest cheers from the crowd during the cricket match. A fan took a brilliant catch in the stands to attract the attention of all the people present in the stadium.

The incident took place on Monday, December 20 when Perth Scorchers locked horns with Hobart Hurricanes in a BBL 2022 schedule game. On the second delivery of the 20th over of Perth innings, Jordan Thompson bowled a low full toss to the on-strike batter, Ashton Agar.

Agar, who was set on the field, hammered the ball towards the deep mid-wicket to deliver it into the stands. As the ball sailed into the crowd, a spectator judged the pace of the ball accurately and tried to get hold of the ball.

He initially struggled with the ball as it juggled once. However, the spectator kept his eyes on the ball and managed to take a splendid catch. The effort by the person delighted the entire crowd and they lauded him thoroughly. The video of the episode was also posted by the official Twitter handle of BBL 2021-22 with the captain, “Well taken by old mate.”

Meanwhile, Ashton Agar didn’t stop at one maximum. The third ball of the 20th over was also smoked into the stands while the batter collected four runs on the fourth delivery. On the back of a quickfire cameo of 11-ball 30 by Agar, Perth Scorchers were successful in posting a decent score of 167 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

The opening batter Kurtis Patterson played a major role in Scorchers batting innings as he slammed 78 runs off 48 balls at a strike rate of 162.5. Chasing the score, Hobart Hurricanes fell at just 125 runs. No batter scored over 25 runs and that became the reason behind the team’s loss in the match, which made a lot of fans some extra cash on online cricket betting sites.

For Scorchers, Andrew Tye shined with the ball as he picked up a three-wicket haul. Peter Hatzoglou and Ashton Agar returned with two wickets each. This was Perth’s fourth victory on trot in BBL 11.

The win helped the side in leapfrogging Sydney Sixers to occupy the top spot in the points table with 13 points.
