IND VS SL: The men blue had everything go well for them in Ind vs SL 3rd ODI. After winning the toss, they decided to bat first against the Asia Cup Champions. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli helped them reach a total of 390 runs with their respective centuries. As if this wasn’t enough, Mohammad Siraj dismantled the Sri Lankan batting unit. Playing with 2 players short because of an unfortunate accident on the field, Mohammad Siraj first got the better of Avishka Fernando in the second over.

They say one brings two and that is exactly what Mohammad Siraj did for his team. After A Fernando’s wicket, three more batsmen fell in the pace trap of Siraj. The Sri Lankan batsman was outwitted by Siraj in addition to being outbowled by him. All-arounder Chamika Karunaratne was Siraj’s intelligence’s biggest victim. The incident took place in the 12 over. The men in blue had already reduced the opposition to 39 for 5 by then.

IND VS SL:”I started focussing only on the execution of line and length”, Mohammad Siraj

Watch: Mohammad Siraj Runs Out Chamika Karunaratne in Ind vs SL 3rd ODI
Mohammad Siraj runs out Chamika Karunaratne

IND VS SL: The first 3 balls of that over went for no run by Mohammad Siraj. The fast bowler delivered a full and direct ball, and Karunaratne solidly defended it back to the bowler while maintaining his posture. While Karunaratne was happy that he defended the ball well, he failed to realize that both his legs were out of the crease. Mohammad Siraj was quick on his feet and threw the ball back at the stumps. The batsman was declared out even before he could make sense of the entire situation.

Mohammad Siraj is India’s highest wicket-taker in the power play. The player might have missed out on the opportunity to pick up a 5-wicket haul but his spell was the turning point for India. The Sri Lankan side was all-out for 73 runs giving India a victory margin of 317 runs. The RCB fast bowler has shown immense growth since his poor season in 2022.

“When the IPL season went bad for me, I started focussing on white ball cricket. I worked on it and grew in confidence. I stopped worrying about how my performance would go which was not the case earlier. I started focussing only on execution of line and length. Inswing was my natural earlier but then it stopped so I also developed outswing. When I did not have the inswing, I developed the wobbled seam. It took a lot of time to get effective and give me confidence. In the IPL, I spoke to Dale Steyn as well for outswing which helped me a lot,” Mohammad Siraj said.
