Pakistan’s ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign in the USA and West Indies ended in disappointment both on and off the field. A viral video shows fast bowler Haris Rauf getting into a heated argument with a fan. His wife and a few others had to step in and physically restrain him.

However, Rauf said, “Tere Baap ne ye parvarish ki hai teri (Is this the upbringing done by your father?).” He assumed the fan was Indian, but it turned out the person was actually from Pakistan. This explosive confrontation stemmed from the frustration and sadness of Pakistan’s players after a poor performance in the tournament.

Babar Azam led Pakistan, but the team failed to qualify for the Super Eights and crashed out in the group stage. Pakistan had high hopes of winning their second T20 world title, but their campaign faltered after losses to the USA and India.

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Dreams Shattered Amid On-Field Failures and Off-Field Controversy

Despite bouncing back with wins over Canada and Ireland, Pakistan’s chances were dashed by a last-over loss to India. The final blow came when the USA vs Ireland fixture was washed out, confirming Pakistan’s early elimination from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Babar Azam, reinstated as captain for this T20 World Cup after stepping down following last year’s ODI World Cup, couldn’t prevent the team’s downfall. Speculations have also arisen about head coach Gary Kirsten’s concerns regarding the team’s environment and unity. Kirsten was critical of the team’s performance and cohesion after their early exit from the event.
