Suryakumar Yadav, the star of the match, played a pivotal role in India’s success. His blistering knock of 53 runs off 28 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, helped India post a challenging total of 181/8. “I think there’s a lot of hard work, there are a lot of processes and routine involved in it. Let’s keep pressing the pedal and keep pushing, in the end very happy with a score of 180,” Yadav said after receiving the award.

India’s bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, put up a disciplined performance to restrict Afghanistan to 134/10 in their 20 overs. Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets for just 7 runs in his four overs.

Afghanistan’s captain, Rashid Khan, was disappointed with his team’s performance but remained optimistic about their future in the tournament. “We’ll learn from this game and make necessary adjustments for our upcoming matches,” he said.
