Sneh Rana Happy As Gujarat Giants Win Their First WPL Game
Gujarat Giants began their WPL under the leadership of Beth Mooney. However, an unfortunate injury ruled her out and Sneh Rana was given the role. The Gujarat-based franchise lost its first two games but was finally able to break the loop with a much-needed victory against RCB. Sneh Rana won the toss and elected to bat first. The same team that was all-out for 64 runs in their first game gave a 200+ target to the opposition.

Sophia Dunkley, Harleen Deol, and Ashleigh Gardner were the star performers for Gujarat Giants. The victory will give the team much needed confidence going ahead into the competition. RCB started well with the bat against Gujarat Giants before skipper Smriti Mandhana got out. Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, and Heather Knight played cameos but those weren’t enough to take the team across the line. Ashleigh Gardner who earlier contributed with the bat also picked up 3 crucial wickets of Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, and Kanika Ahuja.

We have got our first points, we are very happy says Gujarat Giants captain Sneh Rana
After winning their first game, Gujarat Giants captain Sneh Rana said, “Amazing, incredible, superb effort from the girls, very proud of them. Injury is fine, it will get fine. Defending here in CCI is never easy, it is always high scoring but we lived up to the game. (On Sutherland death bowling) We thought of giving her the overs because she bowls good wide yorkers. I think we have good balance, we have a good combination. This is something we were looking for since the first game, but now that we have got our first points, we are very happy.”
The Gujarat Giants franchise has announced Laura Woolvardt as the replacement for injured Beth Mooney while Sneh Rana will continue to serve as the captain. With 1 win in 3 games, the team will have to put their best foot forward to finish in the top 3. Currently, with 2 points and a net run rate of -2.327, they are in the fourth position. Gujarat Giants will next play against Delhi Capitals on Saturday 11 March.
